ANZAC Day stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corp. This week we have been learning about ANZAC Day. Some important symbols we are learning about are the poppies, wreaths and medals. This year is 100 years since troops landed at Gallipoli. ANZAC Day is celebrated on the 25th April. We wear poppies to remember all the people who died during the war. On Wednesday we had a special service at school. The white crosses represent people who have lost their lives during the war. We lowered our flag to half mast as a sign of respect. Rylee's Dad is a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, he came and spoke to us about what ANZAC Day really means.
