On Tuesday we had a real police office come to talk to us. She talked to us about all the jobs Police Officers do. We were lucky to hear the sirens of the police car and to look at some police equipment like batons, hand cuffs and pepper spray. This morning Ronald MacDonald came to Clearview to talk about road safety. He had a story that Miss Sutherland read out. He was really funny. ANZAC Day stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corp. This week we have been learning about ANZAC Day. Some important symbols we are learning about are the poppies, wreaths and medals. This year is 100 years since troops landed at Gallipoli. ANZAC Day is celebrated on the 25th April. We wear poppies to remember all the people who died during the war. On Wednesday we had a special service at school. The white crosses represent people who have lost their lives during the war. We lowered our flag to half mast as a sign of respect. Rylee's Dad is a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, he came and spoke to us about what ANZAC Day really means.
Are you going to an ANZAC service this long weekend? The winning team was.... WEST INDIES!!! All teams played well in our Cricket World Cup. The West Indies showed awesome fair play skills and even got bonus points for cheering on teams. The batting was amazing and the fielding was awesome. Great work Explore Team 😀 |
